A gentleman's twin screw diesel yacht of great character, La Chiquita was specially commissioned as one of the last designs from the board of John Bain of Silver Yachts. She was built by A.H. Denton of East Horsley in 1971 of iroko on iroko frames and double diagonal planked, with 3/4" teak decks on marine ply. The hull was Cascover treated from new, giving excellent protection to the wood under an impenetrable layer bonded to the hull under pressure. Beams are iroko. Masts are spruce.

Sails All by Leach including Genoa, serviceable main, mizzen, jib and storm jib. Wooden mast and boom with roller reefing, 4 Gibb winches and stainless steel standing rigging.

Engines Twin Parsons Porbeagle diesels requiring attention to exhausts, developing 70 hp per engine to give a maximum cruising speed of 10 knots and a cruising speed of 7 knots, consuming approximately one gallon per hour in total. La Chiquita carries 200 gallons of fuel on board. Two hydraulic Parsons type P1226 2B reducing gear boxes. Two 24 x 16 Propellers. Two 1.75" stainless steel propeller shafts, new in 1996. Morse controls.

Electrics12v, 24v and 240 v shore power. Switches and control panel.

Accomodation Six berths in 3 cabins: V-berths in forepeak, two in main saloon and a double berth in the aft cabin. The Main saloon incorporates D-shaped seating around the main table to port, with settee and lockers to starboard and has here is 6ft + headroom. The Galley is to port of the companionway with a gas cooker and oven; refrigerator; microwave and washing machine. She has Webasto diesel heating throughout. Hot water is produced either by Gas or 240v. The water tanks hold 200 gallons. There is a vacuum cleaner; PIR intruder alarm and a Bell and Howell video player and satellite receiver.

The clinker built tender provides useful storage for fenders and sail covers and an unusual athwartship wooden bench provides most civilized seating for the crew at the second steering position.

Deck gear Francis Marine anchor winch; boarding ladder; passarelle; Bruce anchor; Danforth anchor; approximately 300 ft of chain; Beaufort inflatable with Yamaha outboard engine; Spreader mounted deck-lights on both masts; three electrical and one manual bilge pumps.

Additionally, there is the usual assortment of equipment needed to make a vessel seaworthy, including mooring lines, warps, life jackets, flares etc.
La Chiquita is a yacht of impeccable breeding. She is very seaworthy and is for sale in Liverpool Marina GB due to ill health.
