The first Snapdragon 26 was launched by Thames Marine at Canvey Island, Essex GB in 1966, following the success of the Snapdragon 23. Exactly 200 were built, mostly before 1969, using hand lay-ups and encapsulated bilge keels, which came vertical, rather than splayed, out of the mould.

Built in grp by TSP Marine, Canvey Island, Essex, 1975, designed by Thames Marine in 1965. Five berths in two cabins.

Fulmar's owner has decided to purchase a classic wooden yacht and offers a carefully maintained grp classic, always wintered ashore, with 1996 sails and a 1997 diesel engine.

Sails and rig:Mainsail 1996, No 1 genoa 1997, No 2 genoa 1994, No 1 job, No 2 jib, cruising 'chute, storm jib and spare main. Gold anodised aluminium mast, aluminium spars and stainless steel rigging. Roller reefing on main and roller reefing on foresail. Standing rigging new in 1997.

Engine: 1997 Lister Petter Twin, 20 h.p. diesel delivers 6 knots maximum and cruises at 5 knots with three-bladed propeller. Spare set of new engine controls. Workshop manual. 76 litre fuel tank, three batteries, oil pressure gauge and tachometer.

Deck gear: Stainless steel pulpit, pushpit and guard rails, dodgers, sprayhood, cockpit cushions, boarding ladder, boarding platform, tiller extension, two sheet winches, inflatable dinghy, British Seagull outboard motor, with motor bracket on pushpit, 28 lb main anchore with 25m chain, manual windlass, 18 lb kedge anchor, mooring warps and eight fenders.

Navigation equipment: comprises compass, new fishfinder, wind direction indicator, VHF radio and aerial, windvane at masthead, autopilot, new gps satellite navigation, radar reflector, navigation lights, steaming, anchore and tricolour light.

Safety gear: Danbuoy, lifejackets, safety harnesses, distress flares, fire extinguishers, gas detector, manual bilge pump.

Accommodation: Grey 1980 upholstery, curtains, one pilot berth, double berth in saloon converts from dinette, two berths further forward, generous galley with sink and cold water supply pumped from fixed 75 litre tank, gas cooker and oven, sea lavatory.

FULMAR is lying ashore at Douglas Marine, Hesketh Bank, near Preston, Lancashire, England. Her woner reports: "I bought her in 1999. She has been wintered ashore and sailed single-handed between June and September each year. She is a good, safe boat with no problems and a top class, reliable engine. I am selling to purchase a classic wooden boat."
