Hull: 100 A1 Lloyds certificated grp moulding by Robert Ives of Christchurch, fitted out in 1974 by Frederick C. Mitchell & Sons Ltd., of Poole, as job 340 for Mr & Mrs Hivery of Liverpool, registered 360171 at Lloyds, 11 tons Thames Measurement. Ballast keel, includes 3 iron castings weighing 2533kg, bonded into the hull mouding without keelbolts. Self-draining cockpit under wheelhouse. Anti-osmosis treatment in 2000, spray-painted in 2002. New bow thruster costing GBP 3,000.00 fitted in 2006. Treadmaster on deck requires attention.

Spars: Aluminium main and mizzen masts with stainless steel rigging and halyard winches. Chain plates are stainless steel bolted through steel-reinforced angle plates bonded into the hull.

Sails: All 1997. Main 18.22 sq m, mizzen 6.67 sq m, furling genoa, staysail, crusing 'chute. Blue sail covers for main and mizzen. Roller reefing.

Engine: 1973 Mercedes-Benz OM 636 42 h.p. four-cylinder diesel, driving 3-bladed bronze propeller through TMP oil-operated gearbox with 2:1 reduction and bronze shaft. Fresh water cooled through heat exhanger, deliverings 7 knots maximum and 6 to 6.5 knots cruising, consuming 4-5 litres fuel per hour. The 364 litre [80 gallon] fuel tanks give a cruising range of between 450 and 500 miles. The two 110 Ah leisure gel batteries are controlled by a battery management system and new electrical system costing GBP 2,000.00 installed in 2006. Water temperature, oil presseure and rev counter gauges.

Navigation equipment: Sestrel compass, NASA depth sounder, gps used as log, Pinta autopilot, DSC VHF radio and aerial, global positioning by satellite.

Deck gear: 35kg main with manual windlass, chain and warp, kedge anchor with chain and warp, mooring warps and battered fenders. Cockpit cover, cushions, boarding ladder, emergency tiller, spinnaker pole, self-taing sheet winches, halyard winches, inflatable Mailspeed 4-man dinghy with Johnson 4hp two-stroke outboard motor.

Safety gear: Serviced life-raft, dan buoy, 4 aut-inflate life-jackets, 4 manual life-jackets, safety harnesses, 3 fire extinguishers, flares out of date, gas detector, EPIRB distress beackon three years old and registered, raradr reflector on mast.

Accommodation: Two berth forward cabin with hatch and sail stowage areas and washapble foam-backed vinyl head lining. Main saloon and galley fitted with U-shaped double dinette area, seating 6 or sleeping 2 people. The galley includes a stainless steel sink, supplied by an 80 gallon fresh water tank with manual pump and a gimballed double-burner Calor gas cooker. Separate sea lavatory aft of galley with washbasin. Red velour upholstery and cushions. Cabin heating is by a recently professionally serviced by not fitted Eberspächer warm air heater. The aft cabin offers two 2.07m berths with drawers and dreessing table. All cabin soles are fotted with teak plydeck material.

Cockpit and wheelhouse: Self-draining with moulded lockers and seats. Helm console with Morse controls to starboard. Chart table below wheelhouse. Coach roof on alumimium frame with toughned glass windows and Perspex roof panel.

BARBARY SPIRIT was re-fitted to surveyor's recommendations after a five thousand pound refit in 2005. She is afloat on a Conwy River pontoon in North Wales and ready for action.
